About the Program
The Visual & Performing Arts BA - Theatre Option is designed to prepare students for a career in theatre while also providing experience in other arts disciplines.
Focus of Study
The Theatre option in VAPA gives students a strong foundation in theatre history and practice, including acting, directing, and technical theatre preparation, as well as a broad background in visual and performing arts. Through selecting electives, students may focus their studies on the aspects of theatre most of interest to them. As part of the degree work, students will participate in at least 5 theatrical productions while at UCCS.
Program Requirements
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Visual and Performing Arts - Theatre requires the following to meet the VAPA requirements:
- A minimum of 60 credit hours of VAPA coursework. At least 33 of those hours must be upper division (courses numbered 3000 or higher).
- 3 credits of cross-disciplinary coursework (selected from 2000-level or higher courses in History of Art & Visual Practice, Film Studies, Music, or Visual Art).
- A grade of C or better in courses applied to the major.
- A minimum 2.0 GPA must be maintained in all VAPA coursework.
