Focus of Study

The foundation of this minor degree is ensembles and private lessons, along with Music Theory and a generous dose of electives.

Program Requirements

  • 21 credit hours within Music
  • 9 upper-division credit hours (3000-4999 level)
  • 2.0 Minor GPA (grade of C or better in any course counted toward the minor)
  • Residency: Last 12 credit hours of the minor must be completed while registered at UCCS

Private Lessons

Complete 4 credit hours of Private Instruction:

  • MUS 1600 - Applied Music - Private Instruction
  • MUS 2600 - Private Instruction: Advanced

Note: Applied Lessons must be taken at UCCS.

Ensemble Courses

Complete 4 credit hours of the following Ensemble courses:

  • MUS 1200 - World Music Ensemble for Vocalists and Instrumentalists
  • MUS 2250 - Jazz and Improvisation Ensemble
  • MUS 2300 - Electronic Acoustic Ensemble
  • MUS 2310 - VAPA Vocal Ensemble
  • MUS 2400 - Chamber Music Ensemble
  • MUS 4300 - Creative Music Ensemble: The Score and Composition
