VAPA Core Curriculum
The VAPA Core Curriculum
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at UCCS is the only arts program in the region to offer a distinct interdisciplinary arts education within discipline-specific arts degrees.
The VAPA Core Curriculum (9 credits) is a unique array of interdisciplinary arts courses required in all arts degrees in the VAPA Department. Populated with students across VAPA programs, this curriculum empowers students to explore intersections across the arts, connect with fields beyond the arts, and often in collaborative projects. With this curriculum, VAPA students expand their peer relationships and networks beyond their home fields, broaden their artistic knowledge and skills to be at the forefront of their home disciplines, experiment with new ideas into transdisciplinary art, and explore entrepreneurship and professional development.
Whether launching careers as performers, creators, and artists; or entering the world of education, business, or non-profits; students with VAPA degrees gain a distinct advantage with this unique approach to the arts in higher education.
