Luke Honeck
Lecturer - VoiceAbout
Luke Honeck is praised as a “charismatic tenor” whose performances “leave audiences in awe with their emotional depth and lyrical beauty” (American Presswire). Equally at home on the concert and operatic stages, recent performances include the Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings by Benjamin Britten, soloist in Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, and the role of Young André in the world première of Click! by Steve Bramson. Honeck has appeared as soloist in Haydn’s The Creation, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Grand Mass in C-minor, and Bach’s B-minor Mass. He has also been seen as Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore and as Devon in the U.S. première of Missing by Brian Current with Anchorage Opera. As an educator, Honeck wears many hats including private voice instruction, music directing children’s musical theater productions, and leading community choirs. He believes that music should be a part of everyone’s life, and that it is a powerful way to connect with one’s community by sharing meaningful stories which engage and challenge audiences. His students work to combine classical voice techniques with a deep focus on texts and stage presence to become convincing musical story-tellers. Honeck holds a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music where he was also a celebrated aural skills instructor. He is a recipient of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Encouragement Award, winner of the 2025 Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition (Eastman School of Music), and was named the 2024 Ted Stevens Young Alaskan Artist.
