About

Erick Eckstrom is a member of the United States Air Force Academy band, which he joined in 2016. He currently performs as the drummer with USAFA bands Blue Delta, Concert Band, and Ceremonial Band. With the USAFA Band, he has travelled around the United States, and recently toured the Middle East and Central Asia as part of a deployment with the AFCENT band. As a performer, Erick has played with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra as well as Sinfonia da Camera (regional orchestra).  Around Colorado, he regularly performs in many different settings to include wedding bands, church worship, and jazz combos.

In 2013, Erick received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois, where he studied with William Moersch and Ricardo Flores. While pursuing a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from Indiana University, Erick placed 2nd in the Black Swamp Percussion competition as well as 3rd in the PASIC solo percussion competition.  During this time, he studied with Kevin Bobo, John Tafoya, Steve Houghton, and Michael Spiro.

As a teacher, Erick has spent time as a percussion instructor for groups such as the Colorado Springs Conservatory, the United States Air Force Academy Drum & Bugle Corps, the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, Frisco High School, Center Grove High School - leading masterclasses, teaching private lessons, and running rehearsals.
