Clarinetist Sergei Vassiliev was a prizewinner at The International Young Artist Competition in Kharkov, Ukraine at the age of twelve. During his ensuing studies, Mr. Vassiliev received several scholarships and awards from music institutions, including Interlochen Arts Academy, Rice Shepherd School of Music, University of Michigan, and University of Southern California. Mr. Vassiliev studied with Yehuda Gilad, Michael Webster, Fred Ormand, Richard Hawkins and Sergey Nizkodub. Vassiliev served as the principal clarinetist of Boise Philharmonic for the 2011-2012 season, Des Moines Metro Opera Festival Orchestra in 2015, performed on numerous occasions as part of the Houston Symphony Orchestra, and joined The United States Air Force Academy Band on various national tours. He participates in music festivals around the country, including Music Academy of the West, Sarasota, Mozaic at San Luis Obispo, Hot Springs, Crested Butte, and Colorado Music Festivals. His honors include a career grant from the Santa Barbara Foundation and The Bruce Zalkind Memorial Music Award from the University of Southern California. Vassiliev currently serves as the principal clarinetist of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. He also performs throughout the west with the Colorado Symphony, Boulder Philharmonic, Las Vegas Philharmonic, and the Altezza Trio. Recent chamber music engagements include Colorado College Summer Music Festival Artists Concert Series and Taos Chamber Group. Mr. Vassiliev recorded contemporary music with "Quattro Mani" on Bridge Records. He is a D'Addario Artist. ​
