About

Amy Kolb studied and worked in Germany over ten years before completing her DMA in New York. During graduate studies in Cologne she commissioned and premiered new works for Trio Akkobasso, oboe, accordion and double bass / Amazon Music. She was also contracted with the Freiburg Philharmonic Opera Orchestra. 

In the US she has taught at Wichita State and the University of Oregon. 
In Oregon, Amy was a member of the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra under Helmuth Rilling. Additionally Amy has performed under conductors Matthew Halls, Marin Alsop, Nicholas McGegan, Jeffrey Kahane, Bobby McFerrin, Carlos Kalmar, Teddy Abrams, Brett Mitchell, Josep CaballeĢ Domenech, Jacomo Bairos, George Jackson, JoAnn Falletta and Thomas Wilson. 

In 2016 Amy left Oregon and her position as Founder and Executive Director of the Central Oregon Youth Orchestras. Here she plays with the Colorado Springs and Boulder Philharmonic and Opera Colorado and Chamber Orchestra of the Springs. Since 2010 she has been principal oboe of the Amarillo Symphony in Texas.
