About the Program

Giving students a broad overview of the history and practice of dance, the minor in Dance is an excellent addition to another VAPA major or to another degree for students who wish to hone their technical or choreographic skills.

Focus of Study

The minor in Dance gives students an appreciation of the history and practice of dance. The program is flexible enough that students are able to focus either on choreography or on dance performance through selection of electives. 

Program Requirements

  • 21 credit hours of Dance coursework. At least 12 of those hours must be upper division (courses numbered 3000 or higher).
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of C- or better.

  • DNCE 2700 - Fundamentals of Dance Technique

2000-level Elective

  • DNCE 2740 - Ballet I
  • DNCE 2900 - Special Topics in Dance Technique

History
