About the Program

The Minor in Visual Art allows a student to gain foundational training in visual art before specializing in one artistic medium.

Focus of Study

Students learn basic principles of visual art before specializing in a medium of their choice.

Program Requirements

  • 18 credit hours
  • 9 upper-division credit hours (3000-4999 level)
  • 2.0 Minor GPA
  • Residency: Last 9 credit hours of the minor must be completed while registered at UCCS

Core Courses

6 Credit Hours

  • VA 1010 2D Foundations or VA 1040 Drawing Foundations
  • VA 1020 3D Foundations

Lower-division Media Electives

3 Credit Hours

  • 2000-level media course (consult with VA faculty advisor for course selection)

Upper-division Media Electives

9 Credit Hours

  • Complete any 3 courses of upper-division Visual Art electives in a single media type. Consult with VA faculty advisor for course selection.
