About

Mary Ripper Baker graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BFA in Modern Dance from Texas Christian University (as a Nordan Fine Arts Scholarship recipient) and is recognized for her choreography and technical versatility. Mary traveled to Mexico for special performance and teaching exchanges at La Universidad de las Americas in Puebla. She has worked with such distinguished artists as Fernando Bujones, Terry Creach, Sean Curran, Doug Elkins, Jan Erkert, David Hochoy, Stephen Koester, John Malashock, Liz Lerman, Bebe Miller, Erica Wilson Perkins, Susan Douglas Roberts, Nancy Stark Smith, Gus Solomons Jr., Doug Varone, and Jennifer Wood. Mary has performed, choreographed and taught throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex as well as her hometown of Houston where she danced as a founding member of Suchu Dance Company. Since 1999 she has been a member of Ormao Dance Company and her work has been showcased in Denver, Ft. Collins, Aspen and throughout the Pikes Peak region. Mary is a choreographer at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and as a certified Pilates instructor, she owns and operates her studio, Motion Studies. Mary thoroughly enjoys serving as dance faculty at UCCS and her list of dance subjects include Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap, Fundamentals of Dance, Improvisation and Composition. She also teaches at Pikes Peak Community College and The Colorado Springs Conservatory. Mary enjoys her mountain home in Cascade with her husband and two wonderful munchkins.
